Consolidating To A Regional Phoneline
Several years ago Minnesota was a hodge podge of area and regional helplines. None of the them were serviing suffering addicts or professionals well. Some were answering machines, or professional answering services that might or might not be able to connect the caller to an NA member. The one thing they had in common was inaccurate and out of date information. The phoneline consolidation project combined four area and one regional helpline into one consolidated number answered by over 50 volunteer addicts with state-wide meeting information that is never more than 30 days old.
This workshop will start with a presentation of the Minnesota experience followed by a panel discussion with members from Iowa and Oklahoma who are also experienced with phoneline consolidation. We’ll discuss phone line awareness within the fellowship, with professionals, and in the community as a whole. We’ll talk about our successes as well as the problems we experienced along the way.
